It makes spotting the foreigner easier. Where we go from there depends - instantly try and get them in the sack, or deride them from being an "outsider". How else would we know how to treat you? :)
I've thoroughly thought this over, and I have to agree that it can be tough to learn a new language, although I am very inpressed with your ability to convery your thoughts in English.
Impressed are you? The last english couple I gave directions to were a bit short of impressed. Refering to a park: "go that way until you find a great... big... green thing."

ReplyDeleteWhich is a valid approach, I guess. But it makes any argument you make that a "foreign" language is hard to spell/read/pronounce kind of moot.
